Understanding how Attribute locking works.

We wanted to let you know about a recent update on Airbnb that blocks certain fields from being updated via API. This change ensures that you can manage these details directly on Airbnb without worrying about them being overwritten by any partner, including Hostify, regardless of the listing's sync settings.

Understanding How Changes are Synced

When specific fields are updated in Airbnb platform, those changes will be saved and won't be overwritten by your PMS. Airbnb will ignore the PMS updates.

For example, if you change the listing description on Airbnb, guests will see that version, even if it is later updated in Hostify.

However, any fields that are not updated in Airbnb will continue to sync from Hostify. This means that if you want Hostify to manage all fields again, you'll need to update the listing in Hostify and it will then sync to Airbnb.


How to unlock fields so they can be managed by Hostify again?

Step 1: Login to your Airbnb account

Step 2: Click on Listings

Step 3: Select the listing

Step 4: Click "Edit preferences"

Step 5: Select "property management software" tab

select "manage from Hostify instead", a confirmation popup will appear then select yes, allow.

Step 6: Under "not currently managed by Hostify", a list of locked attributes will be shown

Step 7: select "Yes, Allow" > Done

Which Fields are Impacted?

Not all fields will be automatically locked by Airbnb when changes are made directly on the channel.

Below is a list of the eligible fields supported by Hostify sync that can be locked:

-Listing title & description fields (name, summary, the space, access, interaction with guests)

- Amenities

- Coordinates and Address (apartment, street, city, state, zip code, country code)

-Check-in & check-out instructions

-House rules.
