Guests search and book a multi-unit rental type — with a live count of how many units are free — on your WordPress site, the same way they would book any other listing. Everything about what they see and book comes from how the rental type is set up in Hostify; the WordPress plugin only displays it.
Before you start
Set up the rental type in Hostify first — this is the part that actually matters. The WordPress side has nothing to configure beyond one toggle; everything guests see and book comes from here.
Two levels: rental type and building
Hostify's Settings → Multi Unit page has two different groupings. Only one of them is required for multi-unit to work at all:
Rental type (unit level). A set of interchangeable unit listings sharing one leading listing — its photos, description and price represent the whole group. This is the thing a guest actually books, and its free-unit count is exactly what the WordPress plugin shows as Max N available.
Building (structure level) — optional. Groups one or more rental types that sit at the same physical address, purely for organisation. A rental type does not need a building to work as multi-unit: two rental types can sit with no building at all right next to a building that groups two others. Buildings never affect availability, pricing or booking behaviour.
Opening a rental type's Units shows what "unit level" means concretely — the leading listing tagged LEAD, plus its interchangeable siblings.
Create a rental type
Settings → Multi Unit → +Add Group.
Name it (e.g. "Studios") and pick its Leading Listing — the listing whose photos, description and price represent the whole rental type. It becomes the group's first unit.
Optionally assign it to a Building.
Optionally turn on Smart Booking Allocation to have bookings assigned to a unit automatically. With it on you can also set Fixed Advance Days, whether allocation shuffles across units instead of always picking the same one, and whether new allocations are left pending for review rather than confirmed straight away.
Save, then open the group's Units and add the sibling unit listings — this is the screen shown above.
Group rental types into a building (optional)
Only needed when several rental types sit at the same address and you want that reflected on the Multi Unit page. It has no effect on availability, pricing or booking behaviour either way.
Settings → Multi Unit → +Add building.
Pick the building's leading listing — its photos, description and location represent the building — and a sort order.
Save, then use +Rental type on the building, or the building dropdown on an existing rental type, to attach rental types to it.
Other prerequisites
Calendar Service v2 and the Multi Unit toggle must already be on for the account — the WordPress side cannot turn either on.
Know which listing in the group is the LEAD — that's the one whose photos, description and amenities the WordPress plugin shows on the listing page.
Steps
In Hostify, go to Apps → Booking Engine for WordPress → General Settings for the site.
Turn on Multi-Unit mode.
Save. No further Hostify-side configuration is needed — the site reads the rental-type groups you already built.
On the WordPress site, confirm the plugin and theme are on a current version. An outdated plugin can undercount available units, or fail at checkout when a guest books more than one unit at once — update before assuming a setup problem.
What good looks like
Search results show the group's leading listing once, with a Multi-unit | N room badge in place of a plain room count.
One card per rental type, not per listing or per building. Once a listing joins a rental type as anything other than the LEAD, it stops appearing on its own — guests only ever see the LEAD's card, with the group's free-unit count folded into it. Fifty listings grouped into one rental type is one search result showing "Max 50 available"; the same fifty split into several rental types — even under the same building — still show up as several separate cards, one per LEAD, because the card follows the rental type, not the building.
The listing page lists every rental type in the group side by side, each with its own price, a Max N available count, and a quantity selector — a guest picks how many units they need and reserves directly from that card.
Booking one unit reduces the count without closing the dates for the rest of the group, and a guest can book more than one unit at once when more than one is free.
